The Complete Look | Ready-Made Girls' Outfits

Here at Childrensalon, we've been helping families dress their little ones with care and pride since 1952. Ever since our founder Sybil Harriman began by outfitting her own family immaculately, and showing others how do the same, she believed in dressing children beautifully. She continues to inspire us to this day.

Over the decades, we’ve grown to understand that family life leaves less time for choosing clothes. That’s where our long-standing expertise and new instant-outfitting service comes in. The Complete Look is where you’ll find ready-to-shop looks, curated by our experienced team of buyers, many of whom are parents themselves, to have her looking and feeling her best for the day ahead.

The Matching Set

The invitation has been in the calendar for weeks, and the big day has arrived. But what would she like to wear? Jeans and a jumper? Too casual. A sparkly dress? Too dressy. When she has a trusty matching set in her wardrobe, the answer is simple. This sophisticated Self-Portrait number, complete with skirt and cardigan, makes the ideal plus-one for birthday parties, weddings and any special celebration. The look is knitted with a touch of wool, making it cosy enough to wear when it’s still a little chilly out and the pretty scalloped hem, embellished buttons and appliquéd flowers add a suitably stylish flourish. Paired with neat ankle socks and her favourite ballerina pumps, she’ll be ready to take on the world . . . but we’ll start with that birthday party first.

"A matching outfit set gives off that perfectly put-together look while keeping getting-ready times to a minimum."

Ways to Wear

What we love even more about this outfit is the fact that she'll be able to mix and match it with lots of other items in her wardrobe. Dina Moon, Childrensalon's head of buying, knows a thing or two about building a look, just as Sybil did all those years ago. "A matching outfit set gives off that perfectly put-together look," says Dina, "whilst also keeping getting-ready times to a minimum, which is always a plus for us parents.” Dina suggests styling the beautiful cardigan with a classic pair of blue jeans, a logo tee and some statement sunnies. "You can pick out colours that work well with each piece to create a whole new outfit that still feels coordinated — the options are endless.”

A Walk in the Park

This springtime look has everything covered: sweet prints, easy-breezy fabrics and a light layer for warmth.

The Perfect Spring Outfit

A new season is here and there’s nothing better than getting outdoors and exploring. We think this sweet outfit, courtesy of Bonpoint, Phi Clothing and Young Soles, might be the perfect everyday look for spring. The collarless jacket comes with roomy pockets, logo poppers and best of all: a fold-away hood to see her through the ever-changing weather, including those inevitable April showers. Underneath, Phi Clothing’s floral blouse is excellent for layering. "It has a scalloped collar which can be pulled out to add a dainty touch to the outfit. It’s also made from 100% cotton poplin so it’s super lightweight and breathable,” says Dina. Talking about lightweight and breathable, for the bottom half we love these floaty wide-leg trousers and Young Soles’ rose-gold shoes are hard-wearing, fully lined and as comfy as can be. And there you have it. An easy, breezy, play-all-day outfit.

“A lightly padded jacket is a versatile layering piece for spring. And the pretty print is the cherry on the cake.”

Ways to Wear

The different elements of this outfit means that there are so many ways she can wear each item. “A lightly padded jacket is a versatile layering piece for spring,” says Dina, “and Bonpoint’s pretty print is the cherry on the cake; it was a firm favourite in the buying team when we first saw it.” The shorter length of the jacket also lends itself to being paired with dresses as well as trousers, and the sweet blouse tucked into a denim skirt would work well too. As for the trousers, add a light tee or even a sweatshirt for a laid-back look she can take just about anywhere.

Playdate Perfect

A denim jacket layered over a crisp white blouse is a classic combination with endless styling options.

Days Out in Denim

When a trip to the cinema or a weekend playdate is on the agenda, this lightly layered outfit will be her best friend. Molo’s candyfloss-coloured skirt provides comfort with its stretchy waistband and voile lining, plus, as Dina notes, “the pretty floral cutwork adds a touch of whimsy, and it’s also made from GOTS-certified cotton.” So, that’s style points for her and planet-kind points for you. On top, Phi Clothing’s sleeveless blouse catches the eye with an oversized collar which looks stunning peeking out from underneath the mid-blue of this Mayoral jacket. Every wardrobe needs the perfect denim jacket, and this one even features delicate embroidery on the pockets. “This outfit is a wonderful example of less is more,” says Dina, “on the surface, it’s a simple skirt-top-jacket ensemble, but when you look closely, there are lots of little details that will make her feel special every time she wears them.”

This outfit is a wonderful example of less is more; there are lots of little details which will make her feel special.”

Ways to Wear

What doesn’t pair well with a denim jacket? She can layer it over her favourite dresses to get more wear from them before warmer weather arrives, or a jeans-and-jacket outfit will always go down a treat. And Dina’s all for double denim: “It’s fun, it’s cute, it’s comfy. You can never have too much of a great thing.” We couldn’t agree more, Dina! The more denim, the better, we say. For an elevated option, you can lean into the pocket detail on this Mayoral jacket by matching with an embroidered cardigan, retro-style jeans and a coordinating pair of espadrilles.
