Perhaps unsurprisingly, many of the brands in our edit hail from Scandinavia, where an appreciation for the natural world, social consciousness and simple pleasures is second nature – these values speak to many of us wishing to bring a little more mindfulness, hygge and friluftsliv to our own family lives (and wardrobes). We look at three designers from the Nordic region putting conscious design, carefree play and the cool factor (they are Scandinavian, after all) at the top of their agenda. Enter Minymo, Elodie and Mini Rodini.
Minymo
Best for Adventurous Kids | Minymo
Nordic design is all about comfort and understated style and Minymo’s collection of everyday essentials do just that. Perfect for the active and adventurous child, the Danish brand’s well-designed pieces are wardrobe staples. The brand champions sustainable materials by using organic cotton, bamboo and viscose throughout their collection, all recognised with the OEKO-TEX®, GOTS and BIONIC FINISH® ECO certifications. In muted tones which are in keeping with their planet-friendly ethos, the super soft and easy-to-move-in essentials will keep kids comfortable for hours of play in the great outdoors.

Not only does Elodie offer beautifully and mindfully designed accessories for babies, it is also a brand wholly committed to reducing their impact on the environment with ‘a goal… by 2026, [that] every product… will be produced according to one of… our four production principles’, which includes the use of plant-based and recycled materials. Founded in Stockholm in 2005 by Linda Stätterström, the brand pioneered the world’s first pacifier made from bamboo; today it continues to be an inspiration when it comes to infusing its sustainable accessories with its minimalist, Scandinavian aesthetic.
Mini Rodini
Best for Colourful Dressers | Mini Rodini
Bringing the fun to children’s wardrobes, Swedish illustrator turned designer Cassandra Rhodin has created a whimsical, fashion-forward label with an environmentally conscious heart. Mini Rodini has always championed the use of colour, using original, hand painted prints, recycled materials and earth-conscious manufacturing principles – almost all of its clothing is made using organic cotton or recycled plastic. Earlier in 2022, the brand debuted a swimwear collection made entirely from recovered fishing nets.
