One of our longstanding values is to give back and do good in the world. And we see every day as an opportunity to learn, grow and live by those values.
Once again, at a time when you may be wondering why we don’t have a Black Friday promotion, it’s because we have chosen to step aside from this discounting season and instead do something more meaningful.
Today, we’d like to highlight two causes that are close to our hearts and make an extra contribution to the wonderful work they do.
Our pledge of £100,000 will be donated to these amazing charities — in doing so, we hope to help a little towards the communities, families and children that they campaign so tirelessly for.
Meet the charities we are dedicating this day to
Sistah Space is a community-based charity bridging the gap in domestic abuse services for African heritage women and girls.
There is an unspoken epidemic of domestic abuse within the African, Caribbean and greater grassroots communities. Sistah Space provides a safe cultural venue for survivors to confidentially disclose abuse and equip them with the support they need to report it. The charity also offers practical help by providing hygiene products and other essential items to those in need.read moreread lessAfrican Promise is a small but ambitious charity working to improve the quality and provision of primary education in rural Kenya.
African Promise rebuilds, extends and upgrades existing schools in the isolated Kasigau region of south-east Kenya to ensure that they’re equipped to deliver a quality education; collectively, these schools serve more than 2,500 children. Alongside providing essential maintenance, the charity establishes a long-term partnership that delivers ongoing support in areas where it’s most needed.read moreread less
In 2020, our Black Friday contributions went a long way towards helping two small but mighty charities in their ongoing campaigns to help those in need.
Thanks to our customers all over the world, we raised an incredible £100,000 for Nourish, a local charity providing emergency food and provisions to families in need, and Porridge & Pens, a young charity supporting the health and education needs of some of Ghana’s most vulnerable children.
